Before we had the wonderful “new” Graphic 45 papers “Portrait of a Lady”, we had the equally gorgeous “A Ladies’ Diary”. Very much the same lovely vintage style . . . and I found some in my stash and since it, too, was pink, decided to use it for a birthday card for a very special friend! I’ve been making quite a few “tall & narrow” cards . . . we don’t seem to make those that often, and it doesn’t make sense . . .since we all have “#10 business envelopes” lying around, to put them in! So this card is one of those . . . which worked perfectly for this tall, willowly, beautiful lady!
Take some time to create today!!! (and every day!)
Time for photos of the two FUN workshops I’ll be doing in Dixon, California, on Saturday, May 13th! It’s All About the Scrapbook is SUCH a fun place to be!! I love doing workshops there and hope to see many of you on May 13th! (Just in time for Mother’s Day “one-of-a-kind” gifts!!)
The morning workshop (10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) took me out of my comfort zone! But when I saw these CUTE “vignette shadow boxes” that Tim Holtz came out with this January, I fell in love with them! You’ll have the opportunity to customize your box with your own family heirloom photo, or you can use one of the photos (as I have) from Tim’s “Family Photos” collection.
In the afternoon workshop (2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.) we’ll be making three lovely cards and a tag, with Graphic 45’s new “Midnight Masquerade” papers. LOVE these vibrant, gorgeous colors!! They are sooo much fun to work with! It was fun to get back to some card making, after several boxes and mini albums. If you’re a fan of purple and turquoise color combo, you will LOVE this paper! I also did one card with the orange papers . . . and of course, some yummy purple SILK ribbons!! (the tag isn’t done yet!! LOL!)
This card features a lovely turquoise flower adorning purple silk ribbon . . . and a gorgeous copper diecut, framing the saying.
This card has a really interesting fold inside . .. .something different, that I’ve never made before . . .but I love it! A diecut and assembled flower on the outside is embellished with more purple silk ribbon . . .narrow strands this time!
Another great color combo here . . .dark orange and turquoise! Another copper die underneath the ephemera card saying . . .lots of “glittered” fussy cuts . . and satin ribbon!
]Please join me for a FUN morning . .. .or afternoon . .. of papercrafting! See you there!
Time for the Spring Blog Hop at “Coffee Loving Cardmakers”! I love doing these seasonal hops with one of my most favorite things . . . COFFEE!! Soo many cute coffee stamps and dies and papers out there in the papercrafty world now . . .and sooo much fun! Check out all the cool cards being posted here! Last time there were more than 600 submissions!!! Appears there are MANY of us who are coffee fans! Why not take a few minutes and make a “coffee card” yourself? I’ll have another card to post tomorrow!
Here’s what I used on this card: Prima paper pad “Coffee Break”; Sizzex “cup” dies; multiple flower sources; greeting – Verve Stamps “Coffee Helps”.
“I will honor Christmas in my heart…and try to keep it all the year.” -Charles Dickens
One of my MOST favorite bloggers is Kelly Lunceford. I’ve been following her for years and LOVE her creations! She combines papercrafting and sewing, frequently, which is something I want to do much more of! And she’s always an inspiration!
Last month she announced she was going to try to “honor Christmas all year” and invited us, her readers, to join her. On the 25th of each month, she is posting a Christmas project she has done, and asked us to do the same and let her know! I loved this idea, ‘cuz it’s sooo easy to procrastinate and save Christmas projects ’til November! I have extra motivation this year, too, as I hope to sell at a vintage market in the fall . . .so have lots of things to get made!
I started with a card. I had seen this idea (somewhere!!) and loved it. My buddy Katrina and I are having a “Christmas in July” workshop on July 15th this summer and this is my first project for the workshop! Love snowflakes . . .and I have several stamps and dies with beautiful ones. . . .so this card is dubbed the “snowflake card”!! I’m also a huge fan of monochromatic cards, and this is “almost” monochromatic . . .just a few touches of Cherry Cobbler cardstock. The supplies for this card are all Stampin’ Up retired items.
I don’t really expect this will get you “in the Christmas mood” . . .waaaay too early for that! BUT . . . EVERY day will be brighter if we keep the “Christmas spirit” in our hearts, in love! Thanks for the inspiration, Kelly!
Oh, my . . . . Graphic 45’s “Portrait of a Lady” line is sooooo yummy! This mini album is my “new favorite” . .. . I never met a rose I didn’t like, and I LOVE the gorgeous roses in this paper! This is my afternoon class at “It’s All About the Scrapbook” in Dixon, CA, on Saturday, April 1st. (morning class is the “Spring Banner” with G45’s “Nature Sketchbook” which I posted last week.
Just in time for Mothers Day . . . I think this album would make an oh-so-special Mothers Day gift for a special mom, grandma, aunt, daughter, niece, best friend . . . .?? We’ll be using Graphic 45’s Square Tag Album, which comes with lots of plain pages, lots of pocket pages, and tags for the pocket pages. And we’ll use almost the entire 12 pages of 12 x 12 paper doing this project! Embellished with gorgeous diecuts, Petaloo flowers, Hanna Silks two-tone silk ribbon, and fussy cuts from the papers.
Would love to have you join us! Call the shop to register; seating is limited! (707) 676-5252.
This week The Paper Players challenge is a “clean and simple” (CAS) card that focuses on the sentiment. I still had this fantastic frame die out so decided to use it for the challenge. I have to tell you . . . I had a VERY hard time keeping this a CAS card! If you saw my last post, with the fuschia flowers, you’ll understand! I wanted to add bright colors, flowers, more bling . . . or all of the above! Those of you who know me, know that CAS is not really my style! BUT – that being said, I do love the simplicity of this card! And LOVE the sentiment . . . definitely one of my favorites and a very old stamp! Check out the other super cards here on The Paper Players blog this week!
I loved this month’s color challenge from Altenew . . .just as much as I LOVE their flowers! So I used a black background card, to make the flowers “pop” even more . . . and one of my most favorite frame dies from Spellbinders, and colored my Altenew’s “Beautiful Day” stamps with several different fuschia markers . . . .and voila!! This is also one of the cards we’re going to do in my upcoming “Spring Flower Frenzy” class here in Sacramento (watch for date and time . .. late March, early April).
And, since we’re still in “monsoon season” here in Northern CA today . . .with wind, rain, rain, and more rain!!! . . . this bright and cheery card brings a smile to my face! Check out all the other beautiful color challenge cards on Altenew’s blog, here
I love all the yummy vintage goodness that pops up on Frilly & Funkie. Such fantastic inspiration! Their challenge right now is to chase away the winter blues with a project that brings you “in out of the cold”! PERFECT for the Graphic 45 banner I just created for my next class at It’s All About the Scrapbook in Dixon, California! I am totally in love with G45’s “Nature Sketchbook” line. Just did a lovely mini-album class in Dixon a couple weeks ago, also using this paper.
So – here’s the banner . . . . I just feel like smiling (as well as warm and cozy, not cold!!) when I look at it. Be sure to check out the challenge blog and see the guest designers creations, and the other challenge submissions here!
Played along with Mojo Monday this week . . . . and decided to use some scraps of Graphic 45’s yummy “Mon Amour” . .. still love that Valentine lovey dovey stuff!! This one was quick and easy . . . got a lot goin’ on this weekend! Happy Stampin’ . . . and Happy Valentine’s Day!
Check out all the wonderful cards this week on Mojo Monday.
