Welcoming “Christmas past”!! My crafty holiday season this year was so overbooked, that I was stressed and overwhelmed. BUT . .. I learned a really good lesson for future holidays .. . carefully evaluate the calendar, before adding something else to it!! Now that I’m looking back, from the “other side”, I am very thankful for that lesson learned!
So . . . no, I did not shop today! I used to enthusiastically head out early to get all the great deals . . . usually adding to my holiday decor for the next year at 50% off! Now? I don’t even leave the house on the 26th! So, if you were out there, I hope you were safe and had fun and got lots of bargains! I stayed home and got my cards ready for my “first Saturday” monthly workshop at Round Table pizza here in Auburn.
The first Saturday of January is actually January 4th, so we’re starting the year off right, and very early!! We’ll meet at 11:00 and the workshop is still only $15.00 for 3 cards. And, my “Happy New Year” to you is an extra free 4th card this month! I don’t have a picture of it . . . it’s a surprise!! However, below are the other three cards we’ll be making. I have designed cards that are “needed cards” . . . and have used those basic greetings on the samples below. However, I will have other greeting stamps at the workshop so if you want to use a different greeting on your card, you can do so.
I used the “celebrate” greeting on this card, because I think it makes a great birthday card for a guy! We always seem to have a really sparse supply of “guy cards”, so I’m going to try to remember to include one of them several times this year in our workshops.
This card could support most any greeting. I was sparing with my use of glittery snowflakes, as I want to use the card as a sympathy card . .. and I always hesitate to put much “bling” on a sympathy card. The pretty wintery scene underneath the tree die gives this card a really soft, ethereal feeling.
This card uses Stampin’ Up’s new “plaid” embossing folder, which I love. I know I’m going to get a lot of use out of it in the future. I also love that it’s a large folder, so its great for 5″ X 7″ cards. I also used the “Regal Winter” floral designer paper. The luscious colors in this set of papers are really striking. It’s been years since I did a card with the varying sizes of circles, but I think it’s really pretty with these papers. It can also be a great way to use up some scraps!!
The special “free card” you’ll be making is completely different from these cards. It’s a really neat design and something quite different, that I thought would be fun. Hope to see many of you there on the 4th! If you can’t come, but want a kit, just let me know. And please let me know if you’ll be joining us so I can have enough supplies.
