When I was a little girl, I loved watching my mom and my grandma sewing.
My mom taught me to sew when I was 7 years old, and I started by making lots of clothes for my dolls. I also remember my grandma kept a big jar of buttons …. I think every woman who sewed had one of these!
My grandma’s had a huge variety, and was fascinating. Imagine my surprise, several years ago, when I discovered there were people who collected old buttons! I started purchasing each year from a woman who had an annual trunk show of buttons at one of my local sewing shops. Soon I had a big box full of antique buttons and decided I’d better start doing something with them! Grammy’s Buttons was launched, first with handmade cards that each feature a genuine antique button on them; then with a few other papercraft creations each featuring at least one antique button.
