Hi Crafty friends!! Remember me??? It’s been awhile since I’ve joined you here, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been making cards! In fact, with the miserable heat wave we’ve had here in Northern California for about 3 weeks, it’s so hot we don’t even want to step foot out the door! This makes for great motivation to stay inside where its cool, and CRAFT!!!
Since I’m sort of “taking a break” this month and next, not holding all my regular classes, I’m also trying to completely reorganize my crafting room. I always seem to have at least 3-4 different projects going at once, and it gets to the point where I can never find what I’m looking for because I’ve got such a mess around me. (sound familiar?? I KNOW I’m not alone!!!) That reorganization has turned into a real “destash” operation, and yet I’m still trying to keep up with projects. Soooo…….
I have a lot of fun cards to show you today. They are what I’ll call “random” cards, as they’ve been created for several different occasions, and are all different sizes, shapes, colors, and types of cards! We’ll call it a “potpourri” of cards for this post! Enjoy! (If you have any questions about any of these cards, don’t hesitate to ask!!)
This card was one of the cards we made in my newly formed monthly group here in Auburn, CA, this month. My inspiration was a lovely card I received from my bff Jilli several years ago. It was a birthday card, and I absolutely loved it, so I kept it, thinking someday I’d use it just as I did here, as inspiration for my own version of it. The materials used here are primarily from Stampin’ Up.
Here’s another Stampin’ Up card, with a few details from other suppliers. There are 2 versions of this card shown, as everyone got the same supplies, but could create their choice of these cards, or use the supplies to create their own version. One of the really fun things about doing workshops is to see how each person creates their card . . . . some exactly like the samples I provide, and some taking the supplies and really “doing their own thing”!! I also used a fairly recent card from my friend Jilli as inspiration for this card. If you’d like to see her creations, you can follow her at “jillibling.com”. . .. and she also does videos on YouTube!
The third card we did this month features one of my MOST favorite new lines of Stampin’ Up paper . .. oh how I LOVE it! It’s called “Mediterranean Blooms” suite (pg. 34 of the Stampin’ Up annual catalog). I just can’t get enough of it . ..we’re doing another card with this paper in my August workshop!! I found my inspiration sample for this card online . . . unfortunately I didn’t write down WHERE!!! I call these cards “quilted cards” because of the patchwork pieces, which are one inch square. They’ve also been called “inchies” and are a great way to use up your small scraps of paper!
These two cards are from Susan’s June workshop. We all seem to be calling the Stampin’ Up supplies used in the card on the left, “the bird papers”!! They are SO pretty . .. .and wonderful card ideas using this suite of supplies are really prolific online! Next time I’ll show you another card I created using the “bird papers”!!
And the card on the right is a simple, but elegant “fun fold”, with a lovely dry embossed card front. If any of you are local here in the Auburn, CA, area, Susan also does a monthly Stampin’ Up workshop, which I attend each month, and we’d love to have you join us! Just give me a holler for all the details! Susan is a “born” card crafter, and creates absolutely lovely cards each month.
This is one of four cards I did for a special “appreciation workshop” for my core group of crafters in Grass Valley. This is an amazingly gorgeous line of spring papers from Graphic 45. I have used it and used it, and still am not tired of it! The colors are stunning, and it’s SO much fun to create with! It’s called “Grow With Love” and is still widely available online! Don’t you LOVE that little, teeny crocheted flower I added to the center of the lavendar bow? It came from a lovely little shop of “specialty items” in Stillwater, Minnesota. What’s really fun for me is that I’ve actually been to that little shop (Rose Mille) when visiting my sister-in-law who used to live nearby. I’ve spent many fun hours with her roaming the streets of Stillwater, checking out all the wonderful little shops there!
This is another “Grow With Love” card from that special workshop. This background layer of tulip paper is my favorite sheet from this line of paper . . . it’s really impressive “in person” with bright and beautiful colors that just can’t help but make you smile!
OK – I’ve got to send this post to the email service, so that you can get it this morning!! My procrastination is completely absolved yet, as I have more cards to show you . . .. soon!! Remember to do something creative every day!! And I hope your day is a GOOD day!! Hugs! Janice
I miss making cards.
I understand!!
