SHABBY VINTAGE FOR CHRISTMAS

This coming weekend is the monthly “Vintage Marketplace” at Prospector’s Nursery in Nevada City, CA. Once again, my friend Theresa and I will have our booth in the “barn”, so please pray for the rain tomorrow and Wednesday, but stopping Thursday thru Saturday! I’ve been crafting like crazy, trying to get some vintagey treasures completed, to go with the cards I already have finished.

First is a holiday “Joy” banner that’s been in my head for months, just now being created. It was a LOT of work, but I love the way it turned out. Don’t have a good place to photograph it actually hanging somewhere, so you have to use a bit of imagination. It has 7 panels, but I had to turn the end panels a bit to fit it in a photo that was close enough for me.

I absolutely LOVE the juxtaposition of burlap and lace! I’ve used it many times on cards, and I rummaged through my stash to come up with the most beautiful tidbits of lace I could find, for this piece. I did have a huge box of goodies, but I used a lot of them on another project I’ll show you soon (it’s not quite ready for a photo), so I was happy to find what I wanted for this banner. I don’t have a fireplace mantle anymore to hang banners, but I wish I did . . . I would definitely be keeping this!

These little vintage kiddos are mounted on pieces of thin wood. They’re quite similar to the hangars I showed you Friday, but a bit larger. Both of these graphics are from free images I downloaded online. One of my favorite bloggers has lots and lots of free images, and I’ve used many of them. If you’d like to check her out, here’s her blog: ishouldbemoppingthefloor.com

She also does lots of her own graphics, like annual calendars in just about any size or format, or art that she creates herself. And, again, Etsy is a great place to find free images like this. Just go to Etsy and type in the name of what you’re looking for, like “free Santa images”.

Hope you all had a safe and happy Halloween last night! Ours was very quiet. We don’t get littles visiting here, unless they’re heading to grammy and grampas house. Now we can all focus, first, on Thanksgiving, and remembering to be grateful for all we have. And, of course, continuing to create for Christmas!

LAST CALL FOR PINECONE WORKSHOP! This is also your last call to register for my “Pinecone Christmas” workshop onSaturday, Nov. 12, from 10:00 – 1:00 at Theresa’s office on Hughes Rd. in Grass Valley, CA. Workshops are still $35.00 and you’ll go home with 5 spectacular pinecone cards! (see previous posts for photos). Happy Crafting! Janice
