HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Greetings! I hope all of you had a special and blessed holiday season! I can’t really say I was at all sorry to see 2023 pass into history, as it was a pretty rough year for us. But blessings still abound and we are filled with gratitude for those.

I’m starting this crafting year in February, with another of my annual new years workshops I call “Stock Your Stash”. Many of us are getting low on our supply of cards, after the year ends, and I love having some new cards in my “stash” so I don’t have to worry about birthdays I forgot until the actual day, or an unexpected life event that needs to be eased with a handmade card! This year my workshop features 7 cards, for which I all used a birthday greeting. I will also be supplying class attendees with blank greeting pieces so they can use some of their cards for events other than birthdays, if they wish. I went for different styles, with some working as more masculine cards, and a variety of color themes. These are all fairly quick and easy cards – still beautiful – but designed to fit 7 cards into our workshop timeframe easily.

Those of you who are local, this workshop will be held Saturday, February 17, at Ben Franklin Crafts in Grass Valley, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. I have a display up in the store with all of the cards on it. You MUST pre-register at Ben’s, and you can do that by going in, in person, or calling at (530) 273-1348. Class fee for the 7 cards is $35.00. Here’s what we’ll be creating!

This card uses a favorite color of many of my crafters . . . with a Stampin’ Up floral embossing folder for the base, and some lovely fussy cut flowers from a past set of Stampin’ Up designer paper.
Don’t let that bit of lace to the right of this card fool you! I designed this card specifically as a card that would be appropriate for a “guy”. . . . I still think that; however, once it was finished I also thought “I know several women friends who love green, and would also love this card.”
This nautical themed card would be great for a guy . . . . and I think most kiddos I know would love the jungle birds on this card on the right! These cards both feature past Graphic 45 paper lines.
This is my favorite card of the seven. I’ve always loved the juxtaposition of frilly, lace, and bows – with the rustic effect of wood or stone. This weathered wood and the pink foil butterfuly just fit the bill! And isn’t that lovely floral cotton ribbon just amazing?? That was a Christmas gift from my dear friend, Kat . . . I’m crazy about it!!!
More purple! This time, a lovely, rich deep purple. I have so many friends who LOVE purple!! The beautiful diecut floral is from Stampin’ Up, and I cut it from a pale metallic lavender from Anna Griffin (tho’ you can’t see the metallic in the photo – sorry!)
And last but not least, a completely different color scheme. Its actually pretty eclectic, also . …embossing folder from Stampin’ Up; fussy cut flowers from some gorgeous paper I had in my stash (sorry – can’t remember which company!!); and gold foil and creme die cut borders from Anna Griffin! Makes me think of the song “and these are a few of my favorite things”!!

Hope you enjoyed my entree into 2024 and I’ve inspired you to dig out the craft room, put the holidays away, and dive into this new year! And, if you’re local – I’d love to have you join us for the workshop! Seating is limited, so reserve your spot SOON!! Big hugs! Janice
