SPRING HAS SPRUNG … and new workshops

Its been soooo wonderful to see the sun for several days here in Northern California. It appears that even tho’ we had some showers last night, Spring may actually be arriving! Everything is green and blossoming and really inspires a paper crafter to create a celebrate Spring!

First, I have two Spring cards to show you made with Anna Griffin’s gorgeous papers and flowers. She is definitely the “flower queen” of paper crafting, and makes realistic and stunning paper flowers of many kinds, for embellishments on her cards.

I made these two cards while I was making Easter cards a few weeks ago. They feature “all Anna” products: base card, diecut layers, floral and butterfuly die cuts, and even the pre-printed greetings. I love making my own cards “from scratch” but every so often its also really fun to sit down with Anna’s products and quickly put together a gorgeous card with pre-made components.

Another harbinger of Spring, is having our little bird friends return from wintering somewhere warm. Anna Griffin’s easel dies take the “work” out of easel cards with precut dies to make the actual easel. These birdhouses were the first easel dies I used and I just love them. Its fun to match the floral bases of the birdhouses with complimentary matte foil or metallic cardstock trims. And, of course, each birdhouse has to have some flower trim before its complete!

I hope these cards inspire you to sit down and create some of your own “spring greetings”!

I’ve also been working on our workshop schedule for the next few months, and wanted to give you a heads up on these, if you’re a local reader. These workshops are all in Grass Valley, at Theresa’s office on Hughes Road. I’m working on finding a workshop space in Auburn, also, to start some workshops here. . . but not yet ready to go with that.

Workshops are on the 3rd Saturday of each month, unless otherwise noted. Here are the workshops through the summer.

May 20 – One Sheet Wonder” cards: How to make 8 -10 cards with only 1 sheet of 12 X 12 patterned paper. You’ll get a choice of papers and cardstock colors, and go home with 10 cards! $25

June 17 – “Flower Market” cards from Graphic 45. This is a calendar set of papers, and we’ll make 4 cards in class, using 2 of the 12″ X 12″ calendar pages, and 2 of the “backside” floral pages. Then, you will take home all the rest of the 12 sheets of paper, to use to make more cards yourself, based on the cards we’ve made in class. You’ll get all 12 sheets of paper in this line, plus several “journaling cards” from the line, as well as matching embellishments. These are the typically gorgeous papers from Graphic 45 and I know you’ll love having them on hand for special birthdays, or just to say “hello”. $48

July 15 – “Building Garden Cards” We’ll be using many different die sets from “The Greetery” to build beautiful flower cards. The Greetery has a line of special dies that are all different flowers, and they’re so much fun to cut and use to make a “garden on a card”. Lots of choices of greetings will be available for you to use whichever ones you’d like to go with your gardens! $25

August 19 – Special Fold Cards from Anna Griffin I’ll have several different Anna Griffin dies available to make easel cards, screen fold cards, etc. We’ll use Anna’s card bases and cardstocks, along with matte foil and metallic cardstock accents, her diecut decorative layers, and beautiful flower embellishments. Here’s your chance to make some beautiful “Anna cards” if you’re a fan of her style! $35

Looking forward to seeing you at these workshops! More information and sample photos will, of course, be available soon and posted here on my blog! Happy Crafting! Be sure to do something creative every day! Hugs! Janice
